C11000 Pure Copper: Performance Advantages and Industrial Applications

2026-03-11

What is C11000 pure copper?
C11000 pure copper is also known as red copper. It is the most widely used high-purity copper material in the industrial field, with a copper content of ≥ 99.9% and an oxygen content of ≤ 0.04%. It complies with the international standards ASTM B152/B187. As the mainstream grade in the copper market, C11000 pure copper possesses outstanding electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance and easy processing properties. It is a fundamental raw material widely used in the power, electronics, and new energy industries. In 2025, the global copper consumption will reach 268 million tons, among which pure copper will account for more than 45%, serving as a crucial supporting material for the upgrading of the new energy industry.

The core performance advantages of C11000 pure copper

Excellent electrical and thermal conductivity performance
The room-temperature electrical conductivity of pure copper (C11000) can reach 101% IACS, which is only slightly lower than that of silver (106% IACS). Its electrical conductivity is 1.6 times that of aluminum and 2.3 times that of brass. The thermal conductivity reaches 401 W/(m.K), which is 8 times that of ordinary carbon steel and 2 times that of aluminum. Under the same current-carrying conditions, the cross-sectional area of C11000 pure copper wire can be reduced by 40% compared to aluminum wire, significantly reducing line losses and material costs.
Excellent corrosion resistance and long service life
In atmospheric, freshwater and most non-oxidizing acid environments, the surface of C11000 pure copper naturally forms a dense protective copper oxide film, effectively preventing further corrosion. The service life can reach over 50 years, which is 3-5 times more corrosion-resistant than steel. It is particularly suitable for outdoor, humid environments and long-term service industrial scenarios.
Outstanding processing ductility
Pure copper C11000 with a purity of over 99.9% can be drawn into ultra-fine copper wires with a diameter of 0.01mm, or rolled into ultra-thin copper foils with a thickness of 0.005mm. Its plastic deformation capacity is twice that of ordinary brass, making it suitable for manufacturing complex-shaped precision parts, electronic connectors, and micro-nano electronic components.
Natural antibacterial properties
The copper ions released by C11000 pure copper can kill over 99% of common bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus within 2 hours. It is a recommended public contact surface material by the World Health Organization and is widely used in hospitals, medical equipment components, and food processing equipment, etc.
100% recyclable green attribute
Pure copper C11000 can be recycled infinitely, and after repeated recycling, its electrical conductivity, mechanical properties, etc. do not show any decline. The energy consumption for recycling is only 3% of that of primary copper smelting. The carbon emissions throughout its life cycle are much lower than those of aluminum and plastic materials, and it complies with the EU RoHS and carbon neutrality policy requirements.
