Tellurium Copper C14500: A Copper Alloy Solution Balancing High Conductivity and Free-Machining Performance-1
The core competitiveness of C14500 lies in its ingenious combination of two seemingly contradictory properties. The material contains 0.4-0.7% tellurium, forming Cu₂Te brittle compound particles that act as chip breakers and lubricants during turning operations. This brings its machinability to 85% that of free-cutting brass C36000—more than four times that of pure copper (20%)—significantly improving processing efficiency while eliminating the "gumming" issue commonly seen with pure copper.
Meanwhile, its electrical conductivity consistently remains above 85% IACS, with thermal conductivity reaching 355 W/(m·K)—close to that of pure copper—ensuring reliable performance in high-current conduction and heat dissipation scenarios.
This alloy is lead-free and environmentally friendly, fully compliant with RoHS directives, and exhibits Excellent corrosion resistance and arc erosion resistance. Its hot workability is sound, with hot forging rating approximately 65% that of brass, allowing forging, extrusion, and stamping operations.
It is worth noting that C14500 is not recommended for resistance welding, but brazing and soldering show excellent applicability.
Based on the above performance combination, C14500 has become a preferred material across several demanding sectors:
With the growing demand for new energy charging infrastructure and high-conductivity precision components, Tellurium Copper C14500 is evolving from a "viable option" to a "superior solution," driven by its irreplaceable process adaptability.
